Recently, a new artwork was officially presented in the front of the University of Žilina, Slovakia. It’s named “A pulsing Heart of the University”, was finally unveiled to the public. In fact, this work has been installed as early as 2020, but due to the popularity of Covid-19, it was not officially launched until today.
This shinning sculpture was designed by sculptor Bohuš Kubinský and was inspired by the collaboration between the creation of the University Square and the UNIZA Green Revitalisation Project. It is made of 316L stainless steel with mirror-polished surface treatment, and it’s weigh is 4,000kg with 4m height and 4.4m width. Bohuš Kubinský said " These are two spatial curves, very playful. I wanted this work to have neither a beginning nor an end. It's also about expressing that the seven faculties identify with one work. The important thing is that you see yourself in it. I like the dynamic nature of it. Everyone sees something different in it."
During the unveiling, actress Emília Vášáryová, who attended the event, said that the university's vibrant heart represents a symbiosis of art, culture and education, which is quite rarely discussed in our country." For me, the heart is a symbol of love for education, knowledge and knowledge. But it is also a symbol of faith and the hope that we will not owe anything to future generations. Education must lead people to think and act independently. It all involves a heart".
This work is intended to represent the University of Žilina as a modern and dynamic institution.
